Project 3:                   Fruit & Vegetable Production

Peas on Earth’s main emphasis, in terms of the farm, is the production of vegetables, herbs and fruits according to the natural rhythms of the earth. All volunteers will have some involvement with the fruit, herb and vegetable production on the farm as it is the largest aspect of life on Mpetukop. Volunteers will experience everything from growing the plant from seed to packaging and selling the final product. This will include:

bunching carrotsGrowing without chemicals – making organic pesticides, fertilisers and compost

Growing heritage seeds; seed collection and preparation

Permaculture –the use of biodynamic techniques to encourage the regeneration of soil and rehabilitation of old farmland.

Companion and rotational planting

Astrological farming – planting, harvesting, watering and weeding in keeping with the natural rhythms of the Earth and Moon

Marketing gardening – sales and marketing, packaging and handling.
