Project 5:       Practical skills

 

On any farm, there is always a need for certain practical skills to ensure the continued maintenance and repair of the farm’s infrastructure, vehicles and tools. Volunteers can choose to develop skills in the following areas:

Mending the water pumpFence construction and repair – of electric, wire, barbed wire and wooden fencing

Repair and construction of animal enclosures, such as chicken coops, pig pens and horse stalls

Maintenance of vehicles, rotavator, weed eater and other power tools

Basic building repair and renovation

Water and irrigation – how to maintain water pumps, lines, irrigation pipes etc

Welding, metalwork, wood work, including furniture design, restoration and building.
